- 1 pound thick-cut turkey bacon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp cracked black pepper
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3/4 cup water
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup butter (filling)
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup candied turkey bacon (chopped)
- 4 tbsp butter (glaze)
- 2 oz cream cheese
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 cup candied turkey bacon (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lay turkey bacon on a baking sheet. Brush with brown sugar, maple syrup, and pepper. Bake 30–40 mins until crisp, cool, then chop.
- Make tangzhong: cook flour and water over medium heat until thick. Cool.
- Mix dough: combine flour, sugar, yeast, salt, milk, egg, and tangzhong. Add butter gradually; knead until smooth. Let rise 1 hr.
- Roll dough into a 15×18 rectangle. Spread butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon; top with chopped bacon. Roll, slice into 12 rolls, and place in pan.
- Let rise 1 hr, then bake at 325°F (162°C) for 25–30 mins.
- Make glaze: beat butter, cream cheese, sugar, and maple syrup. Spread over warm rolls. Sprinkle bacon on top.
Notes
For extra flavor, drizzle with caramel or top with chopped pecans. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
