Description

This Creamy Ultimate Green Bean Casserole is a cozy, cheesy, and crowd-pleasing Thanksgiving side dish made with green beans, mushrooms, turkey bacon, and crispy fried onions.


Ingredients

  • 6 strips turkey bacon
  • ½ yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1½ cups chopped button mushrooms
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (10.5-oz) cans cream of mushroom soup
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 (14.5-oz) cans cut green beans, drained
  • 1½ cups French fried onions

Instructions

  1. Cook the turkey bacon until crisp, then crumble. Reserve 2 tbsp drippings.
  2. Sauté onions for 5 minutes, add mushrooms for 5 minutes more, then garlic for 1 minute.
  3. Stir in soup, milk, cheese, and turkey bacon. Season to taste.
  4. Fold in green beans until coated.
  5. Pour into greased 9×13-inch pan, top with fried onions.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

Make ahead by assembling the casserole a day early. Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melt. For extra crisp topping, broil briefly before serving.
