Description

This Apple Slab Pie is baked on a sheet pan with a buttery, flaky crust and warm cinnamon apple filling — a cozy dessert perfect for sharing with family or friends.


Ingredients

  • 3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tbsp sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 3 sticks unsalted butter, cubed and cold
  • ¾ cup cold water
  • 3 ½ to 4 lbs apples, peeled and chopped
  • Lemon juice
  • to ¾ cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp cream or 1 egg with 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter and add cold water to form dough. Chill for 2 hours.
  2. Toss apples with lemon juice, sugar, and spices.
  3. Roll dough, fit into 10×15-inch pan, fill with apples, top with crust, brush with cream, and cut vents.
  4. Bake at 375°F for 40–45 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Cool 45 minutes before cutting into squares and serving warm.

Notes

Best made with a mix of tart and sweet apples. Let it cool before slicing for clean edges. Serve with vanilla ice cream or caramel drizzle.
